My desktop which is running on Windows XP stopped booting with an error message about WINLOGON error. After researching the error appeared to be the operating system related to the user's logon for Windows. The last recourse is to re-install the Windows XP but that is tedious. One suggestion is to copy a good Winlogon.,exe file and replace the erroneous file in the system folder. When I tried to boot the computer, it went to the blue screen to request a scandisk. I ran the Scandisk that probably fixed the problem because when I rebooted again after the scan the computer acted normally. That means the error might be a hardware problem on the surface of the system disk.
