Tomatoes are are good source of the antioxidant lycopene, which provides health benefits to the consumers to check the risk of heart disease and cancer. That is according to its nutrition info sheet.

In tomatoes, you can avail of vitamin C, potassium, folate, and vitamin K. Tomatoes are a good source of fiber.

I have read that they are also considered beneficial for skin health. But it doesn't specify on the tightening of the skin except they act as protector against sunburn.

Therefore tomatoes are high in lycopene which is good for heart health, cancer prevention, and protection against sunburns.

Which do you prefer to eat? Raw or ripe tomatoes? Green or red?

In my country we actually don't eat raw tomatoes we normally eat them in our foods to add flavour and the red tomatoes are what we normally use.

I use raw green tomatoes to make chutneys and curries and they taste really good. But they cannot be eaten raw as red ripe tomatoes can be eaten. Both kinds have their own nutritious value but the green ones don't have lycopene as it is present only in red and orange vegetables.

Both the green and red tomatoes have their own value. It is always good to use any of them base on the type of food you want to cook. But prefer the red one to cook soup.

I love tomatoes. We have planted them in our garden. They are a good source of vitamins A and C.
It all depends on you and your acidity level and how much acid you can take in cause green tomatoes are more acidic than red tomatoes.

They are usually considered unripe. I usually find them sour and have an unpleasant taste. They assist to prevent cancer, speed our healing process, and prevent premature aging. They also help with our eyesight when carrots aren't readily available. I would encourage everyone to plant them since you would just pluck them from your garden and make Southern dishes.

I have never tasted a green tomato but I have had a semi ripe one and didn't like it too much. I love the cherry tomatoes and buy them all the time to eat just as a snack sometimes. Much healthier than a sweet snack.

I believe tomatoes are meant to be eaten when they are ripe. Therefore, I have never deliberated on which tomatoes are good in terms of nutritional value, red or green? I have also heard of black tomatoes, however, have never seen black tomatoes in real. I like planting tomatoes in my back yard garden.
