I recently added one of my laptop into the Ubuntu Linux. And so far the Ubuntu Linux has worked out for my regular routine. Though most of the games and programs are on windows. The ubuntu has it;s own benefit if you ask me. It can be pretty quick to use the linux this way.

Have you used Ubuntu Linux?

Ubuntu's a good first step into Linux, definitely, and if it's games you're after, there's a great portion of the Steam library of games that function on Linux, and the vast majority of the Windows ones can run with Wine, so the options are there.

Ubuntu is a good option for newcomers, though I haven't used it. It's the best supported desktop distro with a massive community, and a lot of Linux software is developed for Ubuntu.

However, it can begin to lose it's "Just works" aspect once you start messing around with PPAs. Unfortunately this might be completely unavoidable depending on what packages you need.

Sure, i have Linux Mint on dual boot. Works fine, if you want to do nothing but surfing and some online stuff. Maybe developers will get some value from it.
For a basic user, it's not a thing to go for.
Have you actually spent time using Linux, or just installed it and tinkered a little bit? From a usability standpoint, particularly once you're used to how Linux does things, it's comparable if not superior to Windows in many ways. Sure, it lacks behind in proprietary software, but there's an open source option for near enough everything if you do your homework. The learning curve isn't anywhere near as bad as it was 15 years ago or so, and with each new release there's more and more parity between Linux and Windows. I'm just saying...those who actually use Linux for a period of time, and not just give it a quick tinker and decide it's not Windows so they don't want to be bothered learning how to do things...those people get a lot out of Linux.
