Do you have a membership to go to your local gym? How much does it cost?
I have a gym membership for the last few years. I enjoy the gym that I go to and I have access to any of their locations around the world. It costs me $40 a month.
I have a nationwide membership. Nonetheless, there is no branch in this town I'm at - so I just mess with dumbbells at a local park. Surprisingly, they can be enough.
We have a Silver Sneakers gym membership, and both my husband and myself really enjoy going there. We have been going almost every day for the last several years; but after the covid lockdown, they closed for a while, and then opened with limited access.
My husband uses the workout area, and I enjoy swimming and water exercises, and then we just meet afterwards and sit in the steam room together.
Now, the hot tub is closed, the steam room and sauna are closed, and limited people are allowed to use the facilities at one time.
It has been a pretty cold winter here, even for the South, and it is too cold to swim in the pool and not be able to sit in the hot tub or steam room afterwards, so we have been waiting until they either open up more, or warmer weather gets here and it is not so hard to swim and not be freezing afterwards.
As far as having the gym membership, for us , it is much better than exercising at home, and it is easier to remember to get enough exercise each day when we are consistently going to the fitness center, and it is part of a daily routine. Because the membership is part of our Medicare Advantage plan, it does not cost anything for the membership.
