Indonesia's innovative punishment for Mask offenders!

Eight people in Gresik regency, East Java, were ordered by local authorities to dig graves for those who have died of Covid-19 as punishment for not wearing face masks in public. Cerme district head Suypmo punished residents who did not wear face masks by making them dig graves at a public cemetery in Ngabetan village.

Local authorities made sure the health protocol violators did not participate in the burials. Suypmo hopes such punishments will create a deterrent effect against violations.

In some cities in Indonesia there are also signs around town with a picture of an undertaker digging a grave captioned with "Prevent Corvid-19 or I'll be waiting here for you". Sadly, these methods aren't helping much. There are many, many people going about their lives as normal or just offering token compliance to safety measures.
